The name ‘saffron’ is a derivative of the Arabic “zá-faran”, which means ‘be yellow’. Saffron (English)/ Kesar (Hindi)/ Za-faran (urdu)
It is the dried stigmas (top part in the center of a flower that receives the pollen).
Saffron is one of the most expensive spices by weight and is used in various applications, including food, beverages, and medicines. Used extensively to enhance the flavor/ color/ aroma of everything it is added to. Can be added to Beverages (kahwa) Icecream for color and flavor to Pualo and dairy dishes. Considered a premium ingredient in a wide range of food items. Has many medicinal benefits as well.
